Fancy fingers

Jonathan and I truly don't know how he came up with this idea, but Ari really wanted nail polish.  (Maybe one of his girl friends at school was wearing it, and he thought it was cool?)

Regardless of origin, he asked us to paint his nails red.

He asked us every day.

For a week.

Okay, sure, we finally said, if you really mean it.  So last weekend he and Jonathan went to get polish.  And family nail polishing commenced!

Ari went first.  Look at his smile.

Analyzing the toe polishing process.

Just sayin' hi, Mom, this happens everyday...

Excitedly showing off his toes AND fingers, red as red can be!

Xander opted for alternating black background with colored sparkles, and transparent lacquer with silver sparkles.

The older boys wanted Connor to get in on the fun, too.

Connor is not quite sure what I'm doing to his toes.

But he was a good sport, and in the end an excellent foot model.

Jonathan, by the way, is sporting black nail polish on his toes, and nothing on his fingers.  I'm the only one who doesn't have anything, I was handling the camera.  But this weekend I think I'm gonna go with red, too!

We are suckers

Bedtime rituals begin at 7pm.

Lights out is at 7:30.

Occasionally if we're running late, it's closer to 7:45. But usually, we're pretty good about it.

Until a few nights ago when we were reading The Periodic Table: Elements with Style.

Lights out was extended til 8.

Neither Jonathan nor I could stop reading.  It's so hard to put your foot down when children insist plaintively, "Just one more element!"

Bedtime, in its myriad of forms

Connor loves climbing up to Xander's top bunk.  We have to pull him down almost nightly.

Hugs post-bath, pre-bed.

Passed out post-night meeting.

Overwhelmed

The City of Coral Springs just emailed me with a lovely invitation to give the invocation at one of their Council meetings when I arrive in town.

It's April.

I was flabbergasted.

And then I realized... it's not that crazy.  We move in six weeks.

You just gotta laugh

The epitome of humor lately in our house is to put a whoopee cushion under someone and wait for the noise.

Jonathan and I have "accidentally" sat on a whoopee cushion countless times now.

The boys think it's hilarious.

We've been cracking up ourselves too... who knew that with a few flatulence noises, a child can literally fall over laughing?
