Lifelong mystery

Why oh why won't young children blow their noses?!  They sniff and they sniff, and they act like you're trying to torture them when you hand them a Kleenex.

I don't get it.

Anyone have any insight?  It's driving me nuts.

  1. Blowing your nose into a tissue isn't as easy a maneuver as you might think. I can't do it with my left hand.

Maybe it requires a few "this is the way we...." sessions.

  2. As Savta said, they just don't know HOW to do it. I once taught one of my students how to blow his nose.....and he was in 7th grade! His parents were distinguished and powerful people in the community but they never taught him. Maybe I can help when I'm there in a couple weeks!

  3. I think we are lucky cuz my kiddos have no qualms about blowing their nose. The baby girl picks up a piece of tissue (or sock, or pants, etc) and blows her nose too. They do like to do it more (OVER DO IT) if I buy the really soft, lotion tissue.

  4. Katie, I'm so jealous! X knows how, he just doesn't like to do it. Good for you that your kids are fine with it.
