Whenever I get my hair cut and colored, I know that I always have about 20 minutes of "lag time" to wait for the color to set. Usually that's my time to read celebrity magazines and zone out.
But today at work, before I left for the hair stylist, I was getting really excited about planning for my teacher's meeting on Sunday. So I brought my own reading material, The New Jewish Teacher's Handbook. The stylist returned to wash my hair and looked at me askance, obviously absorbed in a book with pictures of puppets and Hebrew letters, with instructions on how to use puppets in the Hebrew classroom.
"Wow, it's really rare to see someone who likes what they do that much!" she said.
I didn't know how to respond. Yeah, I do like what I do. But, the puppetry article had nothing to do with my upcoming teacher development meeting. It was the article after the one that related to the upcoming meeting. I just kept reading the book cuz... I'm a geek. :)
Geeks unite!
