Climbaroo on the 28th

For Ari's actual birthday on the 28th, we started off with a breakfast of cake.  After school Ari requested Jamba Juice, and then as a special treat we went to an indoor play place, Climbaroo.

Every night at 7pm a character came out to visit.  I requested that the visitor be Spiderman if possible, and the young guy behind the counter said sure, Spiderman was his favorite character to play, and what was my son's name again?  He went in search of Ari specifically to wish him a happy birthday.

Ari was SO EXCITED, his face lit up.  He and Xander both thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Me and the not-quite-old-enough-to-play Connor.

Can you see Xander making a flying leap onto the roof of the padded structure in the back?  He's literally jumping over Ari and another child.

Brothers in a tunnel.  Ari was terrified at first so I climbed up with him.  Then he felt better and went with Xander alone.

For context; they were pretty high.

While there, Jonathan and I spoke with another mom of young children, a woman from Ukraine who was concerned about her family in her home town.  I love the diversity of Sacramento; this woman immigrated to the U.S., got a job in Los Angeles doing haute couture for the red carpet, and now runs her own clothing business here.  It makes me realize that yes, the economy may suck, but in many cases the American Dream is still alive and well.

  1. Wow! What a fabulous place. And Ari is BEAMING at his Spiderman surprise! I can see how happy Xander is too. I absolutely love the picture of them both together at the end of one of the tubes. Two brothers indeed. Ari looks so happy and Xander looks so grown up. How I miss and love you all.
